Trump Welcomes Families of Shot National Guard Personnel to the White House
Former President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he has asked the family of a Guard member fatally shot last week to come to the executive mansion.
He added that he conversed with her family and they were “devastated”.
Information on the Heartbreaking Shooting
Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a violent incident on last Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her comrade, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in serious condition.
Vigils across the state have taken place in their honor.
Presidential Offer
The president explained he’s talked about a White House visit for the families of both members of the West Virginia Guard.
“I said: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” Trump addressed journalists. “And likewise with him, whether he recovers or not.”
Community Reaction
Mourners assembled over the weekend at the high school in the state to honor Beckstrom.
Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the military unit as part of Trump’s national effort to assist policing efforts in Washington DC.

“Sarah was the individual that teachers wished for. She behaved with quiet strength, a bright grin and a positive energy that lifted people around her,” the principal, the head of her previous school, stated to the media. “She was kind, caring and always ready to assist people.”
Service plans for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.
Judicial Steps and Policy Adjustments
Officials have charged a 29-year-old Afghan national with a charge of homicide and two counts of violent assault while armed.
The event led the Trump administration to halt refugee claims and halt granting visas to possessors of travel documents.
Condition of Wolfe
Andrew Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, began his service in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, as reported by the AP.
He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, the state’s governor the governor stated on a news program.
Attorney general Bondi stated on a news show that she aimed to meet with the family.
Legacy of Sarah Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County high school in mid-2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a law enforcement officer with honor, according to the West Virginia National Guard.
“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had bravery,” Morrisey informed the audience at the service. “Though her time ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to be remembered always.”
