The Streaming Platform is Producing a Popular Game TV Series from the Producers of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The latest action-packed title that audiences explored was Far Cry 6, which starred Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and came out back in October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it has a reputation for embracing chaos and mayhem with equal enthusiasm, all while weaving gripping, socially charged narratives. No wonder then that the network’s new order for a Far Cry limited-run show brought on board two producers whose work have exemplified all of those things.

What to Expect

Based on Ubisoft's popular video game property, the short-run anthology series will stream on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The show will also parallel the video games' style by featuring a fresh location and cast of characters in subsequent series.

Creative Minds

Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as executive producers on the series via their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

“FX has had outstanding collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is innovative, engrossing, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to thank our collaborators at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this popular property.”

Cast and Future Plans

Mac will also feature in the show, but at the time of writing, we do not know what role that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just greenlit for more episodes, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new long-term contract with the creator.

“Getting to work alongside Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably supportive, entrusting us with one of the most iconic video-game realms ever created. And along the way, my FX partners constantly supports me with their ongoing trust and backing.”

“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology-style show. Each game is a take of a idea, the same way every series of Fargo is a adaptation on a story,” said Hawley. “To create a big action show that can shift from one instalment to the next, while always exploring the core of humanity through this intricate and turbulent lens, is a dream come true. I’m excited to partner with Rob and present our mutual irreverent, ambitious approach to the screen.”

A schedule for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
