Jurgen Klopp says rejoining to lead Liverpool is plausible in theory.

The German coach, who stepped down from Liverpool in 2024, indicated that returning someday is an option. The 58-year-old, after a transformative nine-year spell which brought a European Cup triumph and the Reds’ first league title since 1990, now holds roles as head of global soccer with the Red Bull group and as an advisor to Germany's league body.

Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

They secured England's top flight under Arne Slot, but many fans who adore the manager would embrace the notion of his potential comeback. During an extensive chat, he explained to Steven Bartlett: “I stated I won't manage a different club in England. So that means should it be the Reds...yeah. In theory, it could happen.”

“I’m 58, so the choice could be mine down the line, it's uncertain. Is a decision required immediately? If so, I wouldn't return. Luckily, I don’t have to do that. I'll simply watch what the future brings.”

Conditions for a Comeback

Questioned regarding what circumstances would need to occur to draw him back to the dugout, he confessed he isn't eager toward coming back. “I'm not entirely sure, I love what I do right now,” he said. “No longing for management; I don’t miss standing in the rain for two-and-a-half or three hours; I don’t miss going to press conferences multiple times weekly or having 10-12 interviews a week.

“I don’t miss the dressing room in that context, but sitting in a restaurant alongside the squad talking freely, I appreciate that. Success was frequent meaning regularly great spirits around the place. I can still hear the captain's chuckle ringing in my ears as an instance.”

Commending Arne Slot

He commended of the current boss, acknowledging his role due to the changes that won the league last term. Liverpool have lost four in a row across various tournaments post heavy investment, but he rubbished the idea of it representing a decline.

“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, critics will regret if spoken against. He’s an incredible talent. The French striker, incredible player. This is a well-built balanced team. You don’t have to worry regarding the Reds, they will be fine.”

Heartfelt Words for Diogo Jota

Klopp also spoke emotionally about the death of Jota, a player he signed during his tenure, and its impact on Liverpool. Jota was killed in a car crash together with his sibling this past summer.

“How do you replace such an individual? It goes beyond his on-field talent, it's his character. I can’t imagine the squad without him in it. Putting it into words is tough about it. It was an incredible shock for all the boys also. Not a single person might employ it as an excuse though it's a fact. Being in that space where his spirit remains. Handling this emotionally is not easy. Unbearable.”
