During a discussion, she reflected, “When Trump was first in office, I thought I was running around in a panicked state. But experience has shown, over multiple voting cycles, public figures have no real impact whatsoever on electoral choices.”

She continued, “Why continue? I’m just sharing my opinion on something that’s going to add fuel to a fire dividing the nation apart.”

Changing Allegiances

Lawrence has previously been open about supporting Republican and Democratic candidates in past elections. Raised by a right-leaning family in her home state, she cast her ballot for the Republican nominee in 2008 before joining the Democratic party and stating she realized during President Obama’s term that supporting the GOP was undermining her personal freedoms as a female citizen.

Past Statements

Earlier in her career, she stated that Trump winning the presidency would be “a disaster” and endorsed Joe Biden in the 2020 election. During the most recent election, she lent her support to Kamala Harris, “because I believe she’s a strong contender and I know that she will make every effort to defend women’s health rights.”

The star was aligned with most of Hollywood in her disapproval of the former president as a presidential contender, but the lack of leverage public figures have over the public choices was underscored by his election win.

“The second term appears changed,” said Lawrence of Trump’s presidency. “As he stated his intentions. We understood his record for four years. He was explicit. And that’s the option selected.”

“There was concern regarding my baby,” she commented, “envisioning every worst-case scenario, and then second-guessing everything that I was attempting. I was already in therapy, but I started taking a drug called Zurzuvae and I took it for two weeks and it really helped.”

“It feels nice,” she remarked, of being forced to cast off vanity. “Honestly, I occasionally wonder where I’m like, What technically are the differences between me and a prostitute? But it doesn’t keep me up at night.”
