Homages Pour In for the Reiners as Medical Examiner's Findings Face a Security Hold.
More than two weeks subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of celebrated film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones are still paying respects to the duo.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he just recently felt ready to share openly about his deep grief.
"Enough time has elapsed that I can finally put my grief into words," wrote Elwes, adding that his first meeting with Reiner made him fall in love. "Once we started passing more hours together I knew this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor posted never-before-seen clips from the movie, adding that he could not remember "any day without laughter".
"This story is about affection, allegiance and giving. Principles that Rob held dear. That is part of the many reasons he was the ideal person to helm it," Elwes expressed.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, noting: "Asserting that they were a great team would be an oversimplification. My heart still pangs every time I remember you." He concluded with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Friend and Collaborator
In a separate tribute, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the protagonist.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked wonderfully with his co-stars, and he comprehended the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Restricted
In a new development, a Los Angeles court official ruled to bar the publication of the Reiners' autopsy reports, after an appeal from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A judicial mandate put a security hold on the files to limit the public release of "related notes, documents, files or images" connected to the ongoing investigation.
The Medical Examiner's office had already determined their deaths were the outcome of homicide, with a record listing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Response and Criticism
After the killings, public individuals expressed divergent responses.
Former President Donald Trump commented on the matter, offering divisive claims that were widely condemned by numerous individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his criticism to the detractors recently. Speaking on his show, Rogan labeled the remarks as "shocking" and remarked they revealed a concerning deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan ended by remarking that an associate could have intervened when the impulse to weigh in on the death was made.
