Edwards along with Gary O'Neil are two of the initial candidates under consideration to succeed the former manager as head coach of Wolves.

The previous coach was sacked on the weekend after the squad's 10-match winless start to the Premier League campaign.

Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - each of whom have historic associations to the team - are among the names to be evaluated by the club leadership.

The manager is presently at Middlesbrough, which would create a possible hurdle to his appointment at Molineux.

However the ex- Luton head coach - who played more than 100 of games for the club during his playing career - is considered a strong candidate for the vacancy.
